Nurse Partnerships

The GMS2 contract opened the way for nurses to become partners in practice. This was a radical change but a very welcome come. Why not? Nurses have proven their worth, they have been involved in the decision making and in contributing hugely to the income in General Practice.

Initially there were very few nurses in partnerships and there was little support or information for nurses considering taking on partnerships. The QNI stepped up and did a lot to support these nurses. Existing nurse partners shared knowledge and support and were invaluable in helping new/potential nurse partners to make their decisions. The QNI has a Network for existing and prospective Nurse Partners, a Briefing Document and a FAQ on their website

If you are a Nurse Partner and therefore an employer, your RCN insurance is nolonger sufficient and you will need to ensure you have adequate insurance from another organisation, preferably the one your GP partners are insured with.
