Employment
Nurse Practitioners are employed in a wide range of settings with varied Job Descriptions and salary scales. Until there is a list of Adanced Nurse Practitioners who meet the competencies set out in the RCN Document, there will continue to be a wide range of jobs, job descriptions and salaries.
Agenda for Change is not particularly helpful because it is not possible to match the Nurse Practitioner against the health care professional who might otherwise be doing that job (often a doctor).
Until there is regulation anyone can call themselves a Nurse Practitioner and can negotiate with their prospective employers for a Job Description that describes what they do, and for a salary that is fair for the work they do.
